CAMBRIDGE, OHIO: Officer, friend die in crash
An off-duty Pittsburgh police officer died Thursday after a traffic accident on Interstate 70 in Ohio.
Nicholas Uva, an officer assigned to the Zone 2 station in the Hill District, was traveling home with a friend when a car careened across the median and crossed paths with their motorcycles.
Uva, 38, was pronounced dead at the Southeastern Ohio Medical Center in Cambridge. His friend, George Horner, of Lancaster, died at the crash site.
The accident occurred when a car driven by Ibrahima Kane of Columbus, Ohio, sideswiped a tractor-trailer while passing it, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.
